The rooftop of the Westin Hotel at Crown Center was the setting for the five o'clock afternoon wedding of Miss Caitlin Scholz and Mr. Tom Hurst on April 12, 2013. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Scholz of Overland Park, Kansas. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hurst of Yorba Linda, California. They were married under a white, canopy tent with the city's skyline as the backdrop. Beautiful, tall arrangements of white, fragrant, Oriental lilies, blue delphinium, green dendrobium orchids, green hydrangea, lemon leaves and oregonia flanked the steps to the stage where they exchanged their vows. Escorted by her father, the bride wore a Sottero and Midgley gown of ivory satin with a V-necked bodice embellished with an empire band of sparkling, Swarovski crystals and beading. The fit and flare gown, with a corseted back, had ruching flowing to the cathedral length train. She completed her ensemble with a fingertip length veil encrusted with embroidery, Swarovski crystals and beading. The bride carried an asymmetrical bouquet of blue delphinium, white, fragrant, garden roses, blue eryngium, blue cornflower, light green dendrobium orchids and succulents. The Matron of Honor was Tahnee Reed. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Madsen, Kassey Miller, Stephanie Wilborn, Erica Walther and Michelle Hurst. The attendants wore short, Bill Levkoff gowns of horizon blue satin, styled with spaghetti straps. The attendants carried bouquets of green cymbidium orchids, mini green hydrangea, green eryngium, blue delphinium and white, fragrant, spray roses. The flower girl was Brynlee Snyder, niece of the groom, who wore a long, ivory dress, sashed with horizon blue satin. She carried a pomander of lime green, Kermit mums, blue cornflowers and white, fragrant spray roses. The groom chose his friends, Randy Weich and Taylor Larson, as co-best men. Groomsmen included Tim Voss, Cameron Scholz, Richard Hurst, and Steven Tennant. The men in the party wore daytime formal cutaways, with black jackets, horizon blue vests and black trousers. Their attire was completed with top hats and canes. The ring bearer was Brody Snyder, nephew of the groom, who wore a black suit, top hat and cane. Ceremony officiant was Mr. Mark Trowbridge, who also had married the groom's parents 31 years ago. Immediately following the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Scholz entertained their guests with an evening of cocktails, hors d' oeuvres, dinner and dancing upstairs at Benton's. With warm fires and a 360 degree view of the city's skyline at sunset, it was quite memorable. A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the wedding cake and groom's cake. With the theme of the wedding being the bride and groom's love of movies, the three tiered wedding cake was topped with a movie reel of various photographs of the bride and groom flowing down the side of the cake. The groom was surprised with a groom's cake made in the shape of an Anaheim Angel's baseball cap. The groom's parents entertained the evening prior to the wedding with a rehearsal dinner at Fiorella's Freight House Restaurant. The newlyweds honeymooned in Virginia and Washington. They are currently residing in Overland Park.
