Dr. Ronald Burton and Peggy Black Sigrist were married in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Muncie on October 1, 2016. Attendants were Donna Chase Phillips of Tallmadge, Ohio and Allen Szafranski of Seville, Ohio. All four members of the wedding party graduated from Medina High School, Medina , Ohio in 1959.
Both of the newly married couple are retired; Dr Burton as a principle scientist, chemistry from Ball Corporation and Mrs. Sigrist-Burton as a school teacher in the Coventry Local School System, Akron, Ohio.
They had an informal wedding with immediate family and friends in attendance. Officiating was Rev. Julia Heymeyer, Community Minister, U. U. Church of Muncie, a long time friend of Dr. Burton. Contributing to the service was Rev. John Phillips, retired, husband of the matron of honor.
The couple had both lost their original mates of several decades in recent years. Part of the ceremony was a recognition of past and present individuals who have contributed much to their lives.
The couple plan on spending retired life in Muncie, Indiana. Dr. Burton is a beekeeper, reader, and gardener. Mrs. Burton is involved in reading, yoga and homemaking. The couple have a wide circle of friends and family and enjoy activities with them.
The combined family of the bride and groom include six children and eleven grandchildren. All were in attendance at the wedding. Readers during the service included Heather Sigrist Book, daughter of the bride, and Leslie Burton Preddy and Shannon Burton Morgan, daughters of the groom.
Numerous family and friends from out of state made the trip to Muncie to share the wedding with the couple.
