Edna was born at home in the Medina County community of Acme and raised on a farm. She attended Seville School when all 12 grades were in one building, graduating with the class of 1936. She has spent her entire life in Medina County until moving in February to her present residence at the Apostolic Christian Assisted Living in Rittman. She retired from her career of 32 years as an LPN at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital, retiring one (1) day before her 70th birthday in September 1988.
Edna loved volunteering for her church and community and for Wadsworth Meals On Wheels, retiring in her 90's. Edna is a lifetime member of the Bethel Mennonite Church. Her favorite activities include needlework, painting with watercolor, and quilting with friends. She has donated many beautiful quilts for the Mennonite Relief Sale in Kidron (one purchased for over $7,000). She was known in her neighborhood as "the flower lady" for her beautiful flower garden and found much joy working in her vegetable garden.
On Sunday, September 9, there will be an Open House celebration from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. for family, friends and community, in the Fellowship Hall of the Bethel Christian Church (formally Bethel Mennonite Church), located at 2684 Seville Rd., Rittman.
Please stop by and wish this beautiful centurion a Happy 100th birthday. Good wishes may be mailed to Apostolic Christian Center, 10680 Steiner Rd, Room 408, Rittman, OH 44270.
