Lillian & Walter "Skip" Hoffman

75th ANNIVERSARY Walter "Skip" Walter "Skip" and Lillian Hoffman of Stroudsburg celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on July 24, 2018. They are both 92 years young. The couple was married on July 24, 1943, by the Rev. Strasser in the parsonage at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church on Ninth Street in Stroudsburg. They are lifelong residents of Monroe County. During the devastating flood of 1955, they lived on Elizabeth Street in East Stroudsburg. And Lillian's grandparents had a farm where the Catholic church in Paradise Valley stands today. Lillian has fond memories of the fun she had at the farm. Lillian is the daughter of the late James and Olive (Learn) Shiffer. She operated her own beauty salon for 12 years, and then was co-owner of Merle Norman Cosmetics in Stroudsburg. She is a member of the Eagles 1106 Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of the Monroe County Garden Club of Stroudsburg, until her illness in 1996. Walter is the son of the late Ted and Berneta (Kresge). He was employed as a weaver at Gottiers Ribbon Mill in Stroudsburg before serving in the U.S. Navy at Camp Wallace, Texas, during World War II. Then he worked at Yankee Ribbon Mill on West Main Street for 10 years. He retired from Consolidates Freight in Mount Pocono after 27 years of employment. He is a member of Shriners Masonic Lodge of Tannersville, Irem Temple of Wilkes-Barre., J. African Simpson Lodge 628 of Stroudsburg and Fraternal Order of Eagles 1106 of Stroudsburg. For many years, he was on the board and treasurer of Eagles 1106. Walter and Lillian have four children, Steve Hoffman of Lakewood, Col.; Pat Hoffman and Sue Hoffman of Stroudsburg; and Brenda Koczot-Snell of Lady Lake, Fla. and two grandsons, Ryan Koczot of Newport, N.C., and Brad Koczot of Colorado Springs, Col.; and two great-grandsons, Jaden Koczot of Casselberry, FL, and Finnegan Koczot of Newport, N.C.
