Gary and Becky Smith celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 29 with a reception for over 100 friends and family at the West Colesville Fire Hall. These high-school sweethearts were married December 29, 1962 at Breesport United Methodist Church in Chemung County, NY.
Five decades bring many changes. Gary, known as Warren to business colleagues, is now retired after a long career at NYSEG. Becky worked for Broome County for many years as an advocate for children.
These days the Smiths enjoy retirement: traveling, treasure hunting at estate sales, gardening and volunteering with a variety of service organizations including Rotary International and the American Red Cross.
The long-time Binghamton residents now reside in Lakeland, Florida. They enjoy traveling to all sorts of interesting places, sometimes while visiting their seven children: Nora (Don Neff) Buford, GA; Wesley (Liz) Hanahan, SC; Walter (Theresa) Oneonta, NY; Warren (Jen) Jamesville, NY; Wade (Kelly) Litiz, PA; Nichole (Dan Geisenhof) Stafford, VA; and Wyatt (Kellie) Wiesbaden, Germany. They have eighteen grandchildren ranging in age from grade school to college graduate. Congratulations to a wonderful couple!
