Dr. Robert W. & Doris Field
Dr. Robert W. Frederick and Doris Field Frederick celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Dec 20th, 2013.
They have enjoyed careers in education after having met at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford, NJ where Robert taught in the science and engineering department and Doris taught in the School of Dental Hygiene. To become more familar with an advanced community collge system they moved to Bakersfield, California where Robert taught physics and engineering. Their daughter Cindee was born there after which they moved back east to be near their families and a position in the Division of Higher Education in the NY State Education Department. While in the Ed Department Robert specialized in the evaluation of two year colleges. After six years they moved to Corning where Robert served for ten years as the second President of Corning Community College.
Doris received her masters degree in elementary education at Mansfield University and taught for twenty years in the Corning-Painted Post School District until her retirement in 1988.
The couple are enjoying their retirement years in Watkins Glen very close to the shores of Seneca Lake. Doris is active in music and literature research while Robert has been taking organ lessons for the last 14 years from Gerald Wolfe of Ithaca. They spent the special anniversary day with daughter Cindee F. Crosby of Lexington, KY. In addition, they enjoyed long distance best wishes from son-in-law Dr. Richard A. Crosby, as well as grandchildren Ashley and Nicholas Crosby.
