Frank and Jean Ribble Raponi celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Saturday, May 4, 2013 with a party at their home, given in their honor, by their children. They were married May 2, 1953 by Monsignor William Byrne at the Immaculate Conception Church in Ithaca. Members of their wedding party included the groom's sister, Angela Servidone as Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids Marguerite McCartney, his sister, and Mary Raponi, his cousin. Groomsmen included the groom's brother Pasquale "Pat" Raponi, Louis Petricola, and Robert Cornish as Best Man.
Mr. Raponi graduated from Ithaca High School in 1944. He served in the First Marine Division and is a combat veteran of all major engagements in the Korean War. He was wounded during the Chosen Reservoir campaign and is a member of the veteran group known as "The Chosen Few," the survivors of that campaign.
Mr. Raponi retired as a printer at The Ithaca Journal in 1992.
Mrs. Raponi is a 1948 graduate of Ithaca High School. She retired as a secretary for the Ithaca City School District in 1996.
The couple are communicants of the Immaculate Conception Church. They have seven children, Michael of Middletown, NY, Stephen, who died in 1993, Gregory of Pocono Lake, PA, Daniel of Conesus, NY, Timothy of Gloversville, NY, Frank of Fairport, NY, and Lisa of Burhamsville, VA. They also have 21 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
