William and Norma Wasmuth celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on November 17, 2016. They were married on November 17, 1951, in St. Louis, Missouri at the Second Presbyterian Church. William Wasmuth, Ph.D., is Professor Emeritus at Cornell University ILR School, and co-developer of CHARMS (Cornell Hotel and Restaurant Management Simulation.) Norma, RN, MS, is a former instructor at Ithaca College (Public Health) and partner in CHARMS programs.
They have three children: Craig Wasmuth, Ithaca; Scott Wasmuth and his wife Victorina, Bayonne, NJ; and Toni Parson (Wasmuth) and her husband Everett Parson, Woodinville, WA.
They have 5 grandchildren: Elizabeth, Christine and Abigail Wasmuth, and Sara and Jennifer Parson.
In 2003, Mr. Wasmuth wrote this story about his wedding: "My family and friends wondered why I kissed [Norma] so long a time, but I waited over four years for her to say 'yes.' We went south to New Orleans on our honeymoon in my new blue Ford sedan and played 'My Grandma Went to Paris' during the ride. She was a beautiful bride then, as she is today, and we still have many laughs together as we did on the 10 day honeymoon trip as newly-weds."
