Mr. and Mrs. William L. Wingfield of Ashland, Virginia, happily announce the engagement of their daughter, Martha Ellen Hudson Wingfield, to Scott Wilson Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Wilson Adams of Richmond, Virginia.

Martha Ellen is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John M. Steck III, formerly of Urbanna, Virginia, and the late Dr. and Mrs. William L. Wingfield, formerly of Ashland, Virginia.

Scott is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Herbert Bryan, formerly of Richmond, Virginia, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Adams Jr., formerly of Portsmouth, Virginia.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of St. Catherine's School and received her bachelor's and master's degrees from VCU in Environmental Studies.

The groom-to-be is a graduate of The Steward School and received his bachelor's degree from Ferrum College in Environmental Science. They both currently teach science at Idyllwild Arts Academy in California.

Scott asked Martha Ellen to marry him in beautiful Poipu, Hawaii, on March 22, 2012, while vacationing with her parents.

A June 2013 wedding on the bride's family farm is planned.
