The marriage of Miss Sallie Berry Higgins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Berry Higgins of Richmond, to Mr. Robert Edward Havey III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edward Havey Jr., also of Richmond, took place on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing. Dr. Steven J. Hartman officiated.
The bride, escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mary Lauderdale Sorrells of Lexington and the late Mr. John Henry Sorrells, and the late Mr. and Mrs. John William Higgins Jr., also formerly of Lexington.
The groom is the grandson of Mrs. Nancy Lucy Williams of Emporia and the late Mr. John Kenneth Williams, and Mrs. Barbara Pierce Havey of Seaford, Delaware, and the late Mr. Robert Edward Havey Sr.
Miss Carter Elizabeth Higgins of Burbank, California, was her sister's maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Tiffany Leigh Hartman of Richmond and Mrs. Christina Kolock Gratrix of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Mr. Robert Edward Havey Jr. was his son's best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Patrick Liam Dalton of Richmond and Mr. Jamaal Rashard Rose of Fredericksburg.
Readers were Ms. Allison Havey Luck of Ashland, sister of the groom; Dr. Gregory D. Jordan of Bristol, Tennessee, cousin of the bride; and Ms. Erica Riesbeck Walker of Newport News. Dr. Jordan also gave the benediction.
Ceremony music was provided by Lyrical Images. Wedding coordinator was Mrs. Tanya McGann Cornwell, friend of the couple.
The rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom's parents, was held at Lemaire at The Jefferson Hotel. The reception, hosted by the bride's parents, was held in the Riverview Room at the Boathouse at Rocketts Landing. The Dickens Band provided the music at the reception. In keeping with a family tradition, Sallie's cousin, Jim Lauderdale of Nashville, Tennessee, sang "Whisper" in honor of the couple.
Sallie is a graduate of Douglas S. Freeman High School and Washington and Lee University. She received a Master of Teaching degree from Mary Baldwin College and is employed by Henrico County Public Schools as a Title 1 Math Specialist.
Rob is a graduate of Hermitage High School and Longwood University. He is the Director of Recruiting at UDig.
The couple honeymooned in Maui and reside in Richmond.
