Schnader Dorothy and Elmer Schnader of Wrightsville, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on October 24, 2013. They were married at First Methodist Church in Towson, Md. Elmer and Dorothy celebrated their anniversary with a cruise to the Bahamas. Elmer is the son of the late Frances and Elmer Schnader. He retired from Steel Foundry in Marietta after 36 years. Dorothy is the daughter of the late Viola and Harry Bailey. She retired from a sewing factory in Hellem after 38 years. The couple has one child, James A. Schnader of Palmyra; and one granddaughter, Amy Schnader. They first met in Columbia and dated for a year before Elmer was drafted into the Army. They were married on his first furlow and spent 2 weeks together before he was shipped over seas where he spent two years in Italy. Dorothy went to work in a war plant in York where she worked until the sailor came home and took his job back. It wasn't until their 25th anniversary that they finally took their honeymoon to Hawaii. They enjoy camping, fishing, bowling and go tot he casino. Over the years they have traveled to Europe, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii and most of the states. They attribute their long marriage to Love, Respect for each other and their faith in God.
