Paul and Mary (Pittinger) of Seven Valleys celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on April 20, 2013.
The couple met in 1962 at the Wivell Family farm in Emmittsburg, Md., while playing softball.
They were married in 1963 at St. Anthony Catholic Shrine by the late Reverend Vincent J. Tomalski. Their honeymoon trip was to Niagara Falls and Canada.
Their children planned a surprise party at Railside Restaurant in Hanover.
Mary is the daughter of the late George and Ella Pittinger of Taneytown, Md. Paul is the son of the late Roy and Helen Wivell of Emmittsburg, Md. Paul retired from Perrydell Dairy in York, after 39 years of service.
The couple has seven children; three sons, Paul Wivell, Jr. of Budingen Germany, Tony Wivell of Stoverstown and Jerry Wivell of Seven Valleys; four daughters, Linda Wivell Kahley of West York, Nancy Wagman, Judy Koller and Lisa Weaver all of Seven Valleys; and fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Paul and Mary renewed their wedding vows by Rev. Paul Schenek at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spring Grove, where they have been active members.
