Granger A. and Elizabeth M. Reid of York celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on September 26, 2013.The couple met in Steelton, when Elizabeth was sitting on her Grandmother's porch. They were married in 1962 at St. James A.U.M.P. Church in Towson, Md., by the Rev. Joseph A. McManus. Granger is the son of the late Granger Reid, Sr. and Sylvia Mayo Day. He retired from ES3 where he worked for eight years. Elizabeth is the daughter of the late Fred Roberts, Sr. and Blanche E. Roberts. She retired from the McDonalds Corporation after five years of service. The couple has eight children, Donald Roberts, Gary Reid, and Robert Reid, all of Harrisburg, Dwayne Reid of Fleetwood, and Jeffrey Reid, Teri Roberts, Donita Reid, and Monica Wilkes, all of York; 13 grandchildren, Tyrell Robert, Anthony Alexander, Brandon Roberts, Mykasia Reid, Jahden Reid, Shawna Mansfield, Gary Reid, Jr., Dwayne Reid, Jr., Jeffrey Reid, Jr., Christopher Reid, Justin Reid, Darnell Wilkes, and Maurice Loney; and seven great-grandchildren, Gabriella Roberts, Isaac Roberts, Zycier Reid, Xaviar Roberts, Janeiya Mansfield, Jalen Mansfield, and Zyonna Reid. Granger and Elizabeth enjoy going to casinos, and planting flower and vegetable gardens. Some of the places they have traveled include Washington, D.C., Atlantic City, N.J., Baltimore, Md., North Carolina, Virginia, Erie and Philadelphia, Pa., Trenton, N.J., and Sparrow Beach, Md. They attribute the length of their marriage to God's blessings.
