Richard Tracy Obituary

Richard E. Tracy
'Dick'
Mr. Tracy, 51, of Charlotte, NC, and Springfield, VT, died Oct. 24, 2004. Dick, born in Springfield, Vermont, was the son of Mary E. and William D. Tracy, Jr.
Dick was a pilot for the Hendrick Motorsports organization of North Carolina, and among ten passengers and crew killed in a plane crash enroute from Concord, NC to a NASCAR race in Martinsville, VA. He was extremely proud to work for the Hendrick family, his employer, and with his many co workers. His pride and respect was returned twofold by fellow members of the Hendrick organization.
Dick graduated from Springfield High in 1971. He attended the University of Mass. at Amherst - Stockbridge where he received an Associates Degree in Environmental Technology. He also graduated from the Florida Institute of Technology in aviation science and then went on to complete his Bachelors Degree.
Dicky loved life; he loved flying, golfing, and people. His occupation and his escapades kept him moving around the country, touching base often and golfing whenever he could. He had a deep faith, strong character, an infectious smile and a contagious laugh. His easy going manner was an endearing quality to those fortunate enough to know Dick. 'Never get shook' was a favorite line he carried on for his father; one of his many one liners. His closest friendships were life long and his central core; especially Gale and Bob Alger, Don 'Goody' Goodrum, and Karl Vogel. All of Dick's friends felt his big heart and shared his warm, caring, generous spirit.
Dick was a treasured brother and beloved uncle. His basketball skills and golfing prowess were always tested by his brothers whenever they found themselves together. His wit and attention were revered among his nieces and nephews and the children of his close friends. He owned and cherished his family home wanting to always have Springfield as his final destination. Dick enjoyed all these things, especially the closeness of his family and friends. He was deeply loved and will be missed by so many.
Dick is survived by his three brothers, William D. Tracy of Lebanon, CT, John Patrick Tracy of Burlington VT, Mark E. Tracy of Mill Valley, CA; his four sisters, MaryAnne Murphy of Wilmington, MA, Patricia J. Morris of Keene, NH, Pamela T. Reuss of Harwich, MA, and Diane M. Tracy of Cohasset, MA. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Dick was predeceased by his mother Mary E. Tracy and his father William D. Tracy.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, November 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Davis Memorial Chapel, 99 Summer Street, Springfield, VT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Springfield, VT on November 6th, at 11 am. Burial will follow at the St. Mary's Cemetery. A reception celebrating Dick's life will then be held at the Crown Point Country Club following his burial.
