JEANETTE GATS Obituary

Jeanette A. Gats, nee Rekiel, age 88, a resident of Plainfield's Carillon Community, formerly of Skokie, IL and Mesa, AZ, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL. She was born June 18, 1922 in Chicago, IL. Beloved wife of James P. Gats, whom she met at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago and married October 26, 1946. Loving mother of James P. (Carol) Gats of Wheaton, IL, Robert J. (Diana) Gats of Irving, TX and Patricia (Mike) Avallone of Naperville; adored grandmother of James P. (Amy) Gats, Christopher M. (Nasim) Gats, Allison R. (Nicholas) Carmichael and Kenneth C. Gats, Brian R. Gats, Michael R. and Jason P. Avallone; cherished great-grandmother of Madison, Parker, Camden, Carter and Darien; devoted daughter of the late Paul and Eleanor Rekiel; dear sister of the late Teo (Albert) Steiner; fond aunt of many. Jeanette grew up on Chicago's North Side and was a 1940 graduate of Carl Schurz High School. She will be remembered for her love of dancing. Memorial Visitation Saturday, May 14, 1 to 3 p.m. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 South Mill Street, Naperville.
