ZDZISLAW SOBCZYNSKI Obituary
Zdzislaw "Jim" H. Sobczynski, age 89, beloved husband of 60 years of Louise, nee Wnek; loving father of Mary Lou (Jim) Arns, Jim (Tina) Sobb, Daniel (Margie) Sobczynski and Judy (Mark) Cyphert; cherished grandpa of Katie, Jimmy, Matt, Michelle, Melanie, Nick, Liz, Ryan and Abbey; dear brother of the late Mary Jo Autenreith. Jim was a retired Lt. Col. in the United States Air Force. As a WW II bomber pilot Jim flew over 69 missions with the 454th in the Martin B-26 Marauder over Europe and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross twice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Northeastern IL, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL 60010. Visitation Wednesday, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Hwy., Palatine. Funeral Thursday, 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Theresa Catholic Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Interment St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery. 847-359-8020 or www.smithcorcoran.com

Dear Lou and Mary Jo and family,
We are so sorry to hear about Hank. You are all in our thoughts and prayers as always. This world has lost a great and kind soul. I will never forget the 1st time Dad (Charles) introduced us to Hank, it was at the 454th reunion in Omaha and he show us the "Flounder Gus" panel from the plane, this moment will be in our memories forever, along with all the other great memories. Know he was so loved and admired by so many.
