WILLIAM OSNESS Obituary
William H. "Coach" Osness, Sr., age 87, of Skokie. Teacher and Coach at Niles East High School for 18 years. Beloved husband of Leda "Dee," nee Speiser; dear father of William Jr. (Robin), Holly, and James M. (Laurie); loving grandfather of Jeremy, Jeff and Jenna Osness, Erik Assmus, Meghan, Morgan and Reily Osness, Marissa (Aaron) Holm, and Katie, Christine and Cara Orndahl; cherished great-grandfather of Alexus Stewart; fond brother of Marion Hall and Jeanne Sanford. Visitation Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Haben Funeral Home & Crematory , 8057 Niles Center Rd., Skokie. Service and interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Misericordia Heart of Mercy, 6300 N. Coach Osness was a great man and mentor. Had him for homeroom all four years, freshman and sophomore basketball and freshman Non-Western Civ. May he rest in peace.

Coach Osness was one of my favorite people when I attended Niles East. His sense of humor and his decency and kindness will always remain in my memory. He was a great coach and teacher. My condolences to Bill, Jr. and the rest of the Osness family.

Coach Osness was one of the good ones--always smiling and always a kind word. I loved to hear him laugh. He will be missed, but well-remembered. My condolences to Bill and the rest of the Osness family.
