Robert Davis Obituary
Robert "Rob" H. Davis, age 21, of Urbana, IL. Beloved son of Kent and Susanne Davis; loving brother of Katharine and Emily Davis; caring grandson of Robert and the late Martha Davis and Clara and the late Hran Putnik; fond nephew of Vera (John) Finnerty, Eric (Janice) Davis, Robin (Jon) Randolph; and cousin Hannah Davis. Rob was a senior at the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign, majoring in Integrative biology, a member of I.E.M.S., a member of the Shakespeare Company, an EMT Basic for Trace Ambulance, achieved rank of Life Scout and was a National Merit Scholar from Lincoln-Way East High School graduating in 2004. Visitation Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, from 3 until 9 p.m., and a service being held Tuesday, 5 p.m., at the Vandenberg Funeral Home, 19604 S. Wolf Rd., Mokena, IL 60448. Funeral service Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, 105 W. Main Street, Mt. Zion, IL 62549, with the family and friends gathering from 10 a.m. until time of service 12 noon. Interment Mt. Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the University of Illinois Foundation for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Fund at Urbana-Champaign in memory of Robert Davis. Our hearts are breaking for you as we learn of Roberts passing. The boys and I are remembering many times in scouts when Robert's wonderful sense of humor and leadership qualities were appreciated. There are no words to express my deepest sympathy or your loss. The Davis family has always been close in hearts with the Burts....Amy and I cherish the times we spent at Lee's with all of you. As you know, Robert and Amy are the same age---what would I do if it were my child? I am not sure, as losing a child seems so unthinkable. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. Margie and I were so sorry to hear about Robert's death. I don't think I ever met Robert but, I heard about him from his proud dad. Feel some solice that he is with Jesus in Heaven. I wish there were words that I could offer to lift your sorrow. I did not have the privilege of having known Robert, but can see that there was a great deal to celebrate about his life. Much I’m sure you had a hand in supporting. May you find the strength you need individually and in one another during this difficult time. Dear Davis Family,
I was both shocked and extremely saddened to learn of Rob's death. You have my deepest sympathies. I just cannot imagine the heartache of losing a son so suddenly. I remember Rob when he and my son, Ryan, were together at KinderCare. Then as a teacher at Rich Central, I was blessed to have Rob in my Honors Chemistry class. I missed him when you moved to Mokena, but since Ryan was at LWE I thought our paths would cross. Rob was so bright and full of potential. Reading about him today let me know that he was doing very well at school and had good close friends. He will be missed by many. Know that he will remain in the hearts of many.

I was unable to attend the service today, as I am away at school, but my prayers are with you all.
Rob was a friend of mine in high school. We would always run into each other at random places in Mokena while we were home for breaks. I wish we had kept in touch more.

I am absolutely beside myself over the death of Rob. I worked with him as an EMT Basic at Trace and will miss him terribly. He was always teasing me at work and always had a smile on his face. My condolences to the entire Davis family.

To all the Davis Family,
Robert was a student at Sauk School when I was the librarian there. I ran into him a couple of years ago and was please to see that he was the same bright, polite, kind, and quirky person he was as a thrid, fourth and fifth grader. I have always been particularly fond of the bright and quirky. I don't know how I would deal with such a tragedy. My eyes and heart brim over for you all. Rob was one of my lab partners in Physics 102 at the U of I. He was probably one of the most genuine people I have ever met. He was always concerned with other people's well being before his own. He had a great sense of humor and I don't think that I've ever laughed that much in a lab before. Over that semester, we became friends. He will be greatly missed .

I taught Rob during his junior year at LWE as a student teacher. He was the brightest student I've ever taught. Just the other day, I found myself thinking about him, recalling how wonderful a person he was. Throughout the years, he has taken the time to visit me at LWE, which always brightened my day. I don't know if I can express how I feel about Robert's too sudden death, because my emotions are making it so difficult. We can't even begin to know how you must feel about losing him so young. While we didn't know him very well, we do know how proud you were of him, and his talents and accomplishments.
