Joseph S. Birosik of Boland Avenue, Hanover Township, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born May 26, 1936, in Nanticoke, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Skudla Birosik. He was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, Class of 1954. He was a plumber for Luzerne County, College Misericordia and self-employed. He was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish and their Holy Name Society.
He is survived by daughter, Donna and her husband, Thomas Kimmel, Tobyhanna; son, Daniel and his wife, Brenda Birosik, Hanover Township; grandchildren, Dwayne, Jon, Tyler, Kaci and Madison; great-grandsons, Nathan and Jase; also beloved dogs, Baron and Bella.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, the former Elaine Brysten; sister, Mary Dongoski.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday from Mamary-Durkin Funeral Service, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Aloysius Church at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Those who desire may give memorial contributions to SPCA, Fox Hill Road, Plains Township.

I had mentioned about riding our bicycles together but we also sat and had conversations with our friend, Steve Pelehach. We had a lot of fun times.

Joe and I were Honey Pot friends. We often went on bicycle rides through Nanticoke and on to Concrete City in Hanover with another friend, Steve. Joe was a good person. I'm sorry for your loss.
