Thomas J. Sadowski Sr., 73, of Front Street, Hanover section of Nanticoke, passed away early Sunday morning, March 1, 2015, at Celtic Hospice, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born on July 30, 1941, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Anthony and Nell Androkaitis Sadowski. He was raised on Moyallen Street, Wilkes-Barre, and graduated from G.A.R. High School, Class of 1959. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Hawaii and Japan. He was honorably discharged in November 1962.
On Jan. 23, 1965, he married Sandra Harvey and together they made their home in the Hanover section of Nanticoke.
Thomas was employed by Offset Paperback, Dallas, retiring in 2008 after 35 years of service. Earlier he had been employed by the former Llewelyn Printing Company, Wilkes-Barre, for several years.
Thomas was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, formerly St. Aloysius Church, and early in life Holy Trinity Lithuanian Church Wilkes-Barre. He was an active firefighter for many years with the Nanticoke Fire Department and a member of Hanover Hose Company #4 and later Lape Hose Company #2; a member of Nanticoke Firemen's Relief Association; was a state fire instructor and a firefighter at Pocono Raceway in the 1960s and 1970s. He also served with the Nanticoke Ambulance Association as a EMT; and was a former Boy Scout Leader for Troop 407 at Holy Trinity Church, Nanticoke. He belonged to American Legion Post #609, Hanover Township, where he was a Past Commander.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Sadowski, Chief Master Sergeant, USAF (Ret.).
He will be missed by his wife of 50 years, Sandra Harvey Sadowski; sons, Thomas J. (Sudz) Sadowski Jr. and his wife, Cathy, Hanover section of Nanticoke; and Mark Sadowski and his wife, Dawn Marie, Halethorpe, Md.; grandchildren, Christopher and Madison Sadowski; and nieces and nephews.
A Prayer Service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. from Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad St., Nanticoke, with the Rev. Louis Kaminski officiating.
Viewing and visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.

Sandy, my sincere condolence on Tommy's passing. I have so many great memories of the fun times we had growing up together and living next door to each other. I even remember being an usher at your wedding. Right now there is a celebration going on in Heaven and he's being rewarded for the blessing he was to so many people here on earth.
