Raymond E. Masher Jr., 63, of the Newtown section of Hanover Township, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Pittston on Feb. 27, 1953, he was the son of the late Raymond E. Sr. and RoseMary (McDonnell) Masher.
He was employed by Techneglas, Jenkins Township, until his retirement.
Ray was a 21-year member of the Niagara Hose Company, Pittston, and a member of St. Leo's/Holy Rosary Church, Ashley.
He was an avid sportsman who loved fishing, hunting and camping with family and friends. He also loved to care for his two dogs, Pokey and Boots.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, the former Julia A. (Domyan) Masher; sister, Norina; and brother, Billy.
Surviving are his sons, Raymond Masher III, Robert Masher and wife, Bridget, and Eric Masher and wife, Molla; daughter, Nancy Ziomek; daughter-in-law, Joanna Masher; grandchildren, Christianna, Erica, Haylee, Zayne, Rylee, Marina, Courtney, Brittany, Nicole and Samantha; sisters, Nancy, Dorothy and Jeanie; brothers, Francis and Eddie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday from George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Leo's/Holy Rosary Church, with the Rev. Vincent Dang officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday.

I cannot believe it´s a year already for Raymond.

Ray was a decent honorable. Man. In my teenage years the wall in the junction was favorite place to hang out. It was Raymond home. We always had the best of times. Lots of friendship. God man leat in peace.
