Clyde Davis III "Skip," 83, of Dallas, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016, at the Celtic Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Clyde Davis II and Orceil Davis. Skip was a graduate of the Hill School, Pottsville, and earned a bachelor's degree from Cornell University.
He was a first lieutenant in the 109th Field Artillery Division of the U.S. Army and was a reservist in the Pennsylvania National Guard, serving from 1955 until 1962.
As a heating/ventilation/air conditioning equipment manufacturer's sales representative, Skip had been a regional manager for Singer Co. and worked as the United States representative of Stiebel Eltron, Germany.
He was a member of George M. Dallas Lodge 531, Bloomsburg Consistory and Irem Temple, Dallas.
Skip was a member of Shavertown United Methodist Church.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his sister-in-law, Pamela P. Miller.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Helen Miller Davis; five children, son and daughter-in-law, Clyde Scott and Nancy Davis, Annapolis, Md.; daughter and son-in-law, Alison Leigh and James Sims, Cumming, Ga.; daughter, Marcia Lynn Davis, Dallas; son, Steven Dwight Davis, Plymouth; and daughter and son-in-law, Tracy Elizabeth and Roger Morgan Sr., Dallas; eight grandchildren, Vincent Mark Landers (Leah Naughton), Scranton; Rachel Lynn Landers (David Ratchford), Dallas; Wesley Mark Landers, Dallas; James Allen Sims (Brittany), Cumming, Ga.; Abigail Leigh Sims, Cumming, Ga.; Jennifer Louise Sims, Cumming Ga.; and Roger Daniel Morgan Jr. and Bryan Alexander Morgan, Dallas; two great-grandsons, Archer James Ratchford, Dallas; and James Hunter Sims, Cumming, Ga.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Cledith A. and Margaret Miller, Merrimack, N.H.; nephew and niece, Cledith L. and Becky Miller, Cleveland, Ohio; nephew, Douglas Miller, Danville; and great-nieces, Rhys Miller, Cleveland, Ohio; and Gwynn Miller, Cleveland, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday in Shavertown United Methodist Church, 163 N. Pioneer Ave., Shavertown, PA 18708. The Rev. Judy L. Walker will officiate.
Private interment in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas, will be held at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shavertown United Methodist Church; Celtic Hospice, 601 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, PA 18704; the American Lung Association, 1200 Hosford St., Suite 101, Hudson, WI 54016-9316; or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., Shavertown.
