Thomas Goul, 66, of Avoca, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born in Avoca on Sept. 5, 1949, he was the son of the late Walter "Ike" Goul and Helen (Brezak) Goul.
Thomas was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish (Holy Rosary Church), Duryea, a 1967 graduate of Pittston Area High School and a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Business College.
Tommy worked for the Pittston Area School District until the time of his retirement.
He was a very active member of the Borough of Avoca. Thomas served on the Avoca Borough Council for 23 years, was a past president of the Avoca Lions Club and also served as a board member for the Lower Lackawanna Valley Sewer Authority. He was a social member of the Avoca Veterans of Foreign Wars, the West Side Social Club, Avoca, and the Browns Club of Avoca.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Goul.
Thomas is survived by his wife, the former Caroline (Soy) Goul; and his daughters, Christine Goul, Naples, Fla.; and Melissa Goerner, Avoca. Also surviving are his brother, Francis Goul and his wife, Cheryl, Duryea; his granddaughter, Seryna Cleveland; and many nieces and nephews.
A Blessing service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with the Rev. John V. Polednak of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea, officiating. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until the time of service on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Luzerne County SPCA, 524 E. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.

Dear Caroline and Family, Please accept my sympathy in the passing of Tommy. I will remember him kindly. He always had a smile and hello for everyone. We will miss him at the plannings and reunions. May he rest in peace. Take care.
