Margaret Romanowski Obituary

Margaret M. "Marge" Romanowski, 76, a resident of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life late Thursday evening, Aug. 25, 2016, at Celtic Healthcare Hospice, Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, with her loving family at her side.

Her loving husband is John C. "Jack" Romanowski. Together, Jack and Marge celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on June 15.

Born July 20, 1940, in Kingston, Margaret was the daughter of the late Anthony Urbanovich and the late Mary (Geroltauskis) Urbanovich Mizenko, and was the step-daughter of the late John Mizenko.

Marge was a graduate of the former West Side Central Catholic High School, Class of 1958.

A homemaker at heart, Marge helped her husband, Jack, at their family business, the former Wanda's Cafe, Swoyersville. Over the years, Marge was also employed by the United Pants Factory, Acme Markets in the business office, Leslie Fay and the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital in the medical records department.

A faithful Catholic, Marge was a longtime member of the former St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of her church, she became a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.

Marge enjoyed many things in life, most especially baking, making pierogies at Christmas with her family, and tending to her flower garden. She also enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren's various sporting activities over the years, and at one time was actively involved with Swoyersville mini football.

Family was truly the center of Marge's life and she treasured every moment she had with her loved ones. She will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

In addition to her parents, Anthony Urbanovich and Mary Urbanovich Mizenko, and her step-father, John Mizenko, Marge was preceded in death by her sisters, Irene Denman and Helen Manarski.

In addition to her husband, Jack, Marge is survived by her children, John Romanowski Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, Luzerne; Deborah Bowling, Luzerne; Christopher Romanowski and his wife, Beth, Swoyersville; and Susan Jones and her husband, Jason, Exeter; her seven grandchildren, Chad, Leah and Molly Romanowski; Logan and Mackenzie Bowling; Kelsey and Mason Jones; her sisters and brothers, Gertrude Kocian, Florida; Mary Oncay, Swoyersville; Thomas Urban, Texas; Albert Urbanovich, Arizona; and Paula Smith, Washington; and her many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Monday from Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville, with the Rev. Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her pastor, officiating.

Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Cemetery, Dallas.
