Edward J. (Sledge) Lehr, 68, of Luzerne, passed away peacefully Monday evening, Aug. 29, 2016, at the Celtic Hospice Inpatient unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born Sept. 11, 1947 in Plymouth, he was the son of the late Edward Lehr and Rita Ruddy. He was a Plymouth High School graduate, Class of 1966.
After his high school graduation, he enlisted with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, where he attained the rank of sergeant.
Prior to his retirement, Edward was employed by King's College in the maintenance department, where he worked for 23 years.
Throughout his life, Edward greatly enjoyed watching and playing sports. He especially loved watching Penn State football games, and attending Berwick High School football games with his friends on Friday nights. He had been a high school soccer coach and referee for youth soccer throughout the Wyoming Valley for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rita Lehr Kupstas.
Surviving are his loving wife, the former Barbara Zenda; children, Janet Lehr, Mississippi; John Lehr, Mississippi; Lance Lehr and his wife, Kelly, Mississippi; Ashley Lehr Gambriel and her husband, Brent, Mechanicsburg; Michele McMullen and her husband, John, Shavertown; and Heather Musick and her husband, Randy, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Nicholas Wells, Shanna Lehr, Chelsea Little, Kelsi Little, Lydia Lehr, Landon Lehr, Katie Chaban, Jack McMullen, Brody Musick and Tyler Musick; sister, Debra Phillips and her husband, Jack, Exeter; brother, John (Jay) Lehr and his fiancée, Yolanda, New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth. Calling hours will follow the funeral service on Saturday until 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Forty Fort Youth Soccer Organization in Edward's memory.

So sorry to hear of Ed's passing. He was a great friend of the Forty Fort Youth Soccer program and always there when we need a ref to do some games. He will be missed I am sure.
