Margaret Ruth (Fox) Burnett, 74, of San Bernardino, Calif., passed away peacefully in her home Friday, Sept. 9, 2016.
Margaret was born in Wilkes-Barre on June 2, 1942, to William and Alma Fox.
Margaret graduated from James M. Coughlin High School in 1961 and joined the U.S. Marine Corps immediately thereafter. After being honorably discharged she moved to San Bernardino, Calif., where she remained until her passing.
She worked as a registered nurse at Patton State Hospital for 38 years until her retirement in 2004.
Margaret was a world-class traveler who visited more than 60 countries, touched foot on all seven continents and participated in numerous EarthWatch and Global Volunteers expeditions. She was also an award-winning photographer whose works were displayed throughout the United States, as well as the Smithsonian Museum of American History. She was courageous beyond measure and will be missed deeply. She truly was the difference she'd sought to see in others.
A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, San Bernardino, Calif. A private committal service will take place at Riverside National Cemetery.
