Rose Allen, 93, of Swoyersville, passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, at home with her family by her side.
She was born in Swoyersville, daughter of the late George and Anna Barilla Hrivnak.
Rose was formerly employed as a floor lady by Slocum Dress in Swoyersville for 31 years, volunteered for RSVP for 10 years and worked as an usher at the Kirby Center for 12 years. She also received a commendation from the VA for her 15 years of care of her husband.
She was a member of Holy Family Parish in Luzerne.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; great-grandson, Kyle Robert; and brother, John Hrivnak.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Arlene Paul and husband, Terry, Forty Fort; sons, Robert Allen and wife, Cynthia, and Randolph (Randy) Allen and wife, Karen, both of Swoyersville; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Caccia, Kingston; Helen Piazza, Swoyersville; and Theresa Hrivnak, Kingston; and brother, George Hrivnak, Kentucky.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Family Parish, 574 Bennett St., Luzerne. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Courtdale.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of Luzerne County, 524 E. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
