Helen Dougherty Obituary

Helen Jean Dougherty, 89, of Hughestown, passed away Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Pittston on July 5, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Helen Connell Ruschel. She was a graduate of St. John's High School, Pittston.

She was a member of the former Blessed Sacrament Church, Hughestown, and Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, Pittston.

She and her late husband, William P. Dougherty, enjoyed spending time at their Mountain Lake home along with their family.

Surviving are her son, Timothy Dougherty and his wife, Sherry, West Pittston; two daughters, Mary Pat Duffy, Pittston; and Michele Binge and her husband, Michael, San Diego, Calif.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Carl Ruschel and his wife Beverly, West Pittston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday in Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, 535 N. Main St., Pittston. The family will receive friends and relatives in the church from noon until the time of Mass. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Mary's Assumption Cemetery, Rock Street, Hughestown.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William St., Pittston.
