Michael F. Gumaer II, 38, of Plains Township, passed away suddenly at home Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017.
Born in Tunkhannock, he was the son of the late Michael and Patricia Gumaer and was a 1997 graduate of West Side Technical High School, Pringle.
He served his country proudly as a military policeman in the U.S. Army. He returned home from service and became a corrections officer in the state prison system.
He enjoyed music, his Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, but most of all spending time with his children. He loved playing games and attending the kids' events. A doting father, he was so proud of everything they did, good or bad.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Daniell; children, Abigail Marie, Michael III and stepson Joshua; sister, Danielle; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and his extended family at work.
A celebration of his life will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Daniel J. Hughes Funeral & Cremation Service, 617 Carey Ave., Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Mountain View Cemetery, Harding.
Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the service time on Friday.
