Michael Fedyk, 88, of Avoca, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at his home.
Born in Binghamton, N.Y., April 4, 1928, he was the son of the late Michael and Katheryn Harlik Fedyk.
Michael attended Binghamton High School after high school he joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II.
Michael worked in the home construction trade for many years.
He retired from the Tobyhanna Army Depot and was then employed by MetLife in the security department for 17 years.
Michael enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed spending his time with his loving family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Martha Moore Fedyk, on Nov 10, 2006; daughters, Donna Baldwin and Michele Viavada; sisters, Mary Howe, Julia Schebin and Ann Szymanski.
Michael is survived by his daughter, Michaleen Harned, with whom he resided; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Cemetery, Avoca, with the Rev. Phillip J. Sladicka of Queen of the Apostles Parish, Avoca, officiating.
AMVETS honor guard will provide military honors.
