Austin R. Gray, 15, of Mooretown, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Austin was born in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho, on May 27, 2001, and was the son of the late Nicole Gensel.
Austin was a current member of the Lake-Lehman sophomore class and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, competition shooting and trapping. Austin brought great joy to his family. He had many friends and loved them all. Austin was a member of the Wilkes-Barre Rifle and Pistol Club.
He is survived by his father, Shane Gray, Idaho; maternal grandparents, Torrence and Frances Gensel, with whom he resided; paternal grandparents, Carol and Jack Williams; great-grandmother, Jenny Kulman; aunt, Cindy Gensel Eckrote, Mooretown; uncle, Terry E. Gensel and his children, Clay, Violet and Toby Gensel and his wife, Barbie, Benton; and cousin, Brandi Chopka and her husband, Benjamin, and their daughter, Launa.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with the Rev. Raymond Purdy, pastor of the Living Word Baptist Church, officiating.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Lateer Cemetery, Sweet Valley.

I'm sorry to read about the passing of Austin...it just doesn't seem right when someone so young must leave this earth. Austin was a good friend to so many including my son. Thank u Austin my love as a mother is with u. The ugh ur journey here on earth I'd done nothing know u r with ur mom showing her how to fish and hunt. I hope u are now whole again.
