Catherine Lachowecz Obituary

Catherine Lachowecz, 95, formerly of Bayside, N.Y., and Glen Lyon, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017, at Guardian Elder Care Center, Sheatown section of Newport Township.

Born in New York, N.Y., on April 15, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John and Irene Kasprzak Juszczyszyn.

She was a member of Transfiguration of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church, Hanover section of Nanticoke, and a former member of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, Fresh Meadow, N.Y., where she was a past president of its Ladies Guild and sang in their church choir.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Steve Lachowecz; daughter, Irene Shybloski; grandson, Stanley Rokosz; two infant sisters; brothers, Michael Juszczyszyn and Thomas and Walter Justin; and son-in-law, Albert Shybloski.

Surviving are her loving daughter, Annabel Rokosz and her husband, Carl; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Great Panachyda Prayer Service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday from George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., Glen Lyon, with the Rev. Walter Pasicznyk officiating.

Interment will be in Holy Spirit Cemetery, Hamptonburg, N.Y.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday.
