Edward M. Loncoski, 79, of Plains Township, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on Dec. 31, 1937, he was the son of the late Michael Loncoski and Elizabeth Waselus Loncoski.
Edward was a member of Our Lady of Hope, Wilkes-Barre, and a former member of Holy Trinity Lithuanian Church before its closing.
Edward was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School and Penn State.
Edward retired from the David Taylor Research Center, Department of the Navy, Carderock Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Maryland, after 37 years of federal service.
Surviving are his brother, Michael and his wife, Mary Grace, Plains Township; his nephew, Michael and his wife, Shannon, and their son, Cameron, Falmouth, Maine; as well as many cousins.
In his youth, Ed enjoyed golf, basketball, bowling and softball. He loved fishing and music and enjoyed reading and newspaper scrambles. His brother called him "the best trout fisherman he ever knew."
He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed by his family and friends.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Simon S. Russin Funeral Home, 136 Maffett St., Plains Township.
The funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Hope, 40 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, the Diabetes Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of the donor's preference in memory of Edward.
