A life resident of Edwardsville, Carol was the daughter of the late Robert and Charlotte Murray. She was a 1982 graduate of West Side Vo Tech in Pringle who made it her life's work to nurture and care for dozens of foster children for more than 20 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Swire.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Timothy Kennedy, and their children, Robert, Kareana, Booker, Siranda, Joshua, Brandon and Troy, at home. Also surviving are her sister, Elizabeth Roper, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Dr. Edwards Memorial Congregational Church, Edwardsville, with the Rev. Shawn Walker, pastor, officiating.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the staff at the Celtic Hospice Unit for their care and concern for Carol and her family during her stay with them. They would also like to extend a special thank you to Carol's friends, Joyce Landmesser and Brenda Hilbert, for the love, care and compassion to Carol during her illness.

TK AND FAMILY,
I had the pleasure of caring for Carol on numerous hospitalizations. She was truly a source of inspiration. TK, you are an admirable man and never left her side. You two showed a love that not many have. Carol and I shared many hours together and learned so many things about our personal lives and children. She loved life and her children. Please find comfort knowing that she did not pass without a good fight. While she will be missed, I hope you can find comfort knowing that she will no longer suffer. Fly high Carol and dance with the angels! Condolences and prayers for you all!
