Kevin Michael Kelley, 44, of Trucksville, passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, in Celtic Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, following a year long battle against cancer.
Born June 13, 1973, in Wilkes-Barre, Kevin was the son of John (Jack) P. and Mary Nancy Thomas Kelley. Kevin was a 1991 graduate of Dallas Area High School and from his teens to early adulthood, he volunteered with Trucksville Fire Department and Kingston Twp. Ambulance Association.
Prior to his illness, Kevin worked a job he truly loved as a pizza chef at numerous establishments in the Back Mountain including Pizza Perfect and most recently, the Checkerboard Inn, both located on Carverton Road, Trucksville.
He was an avid frisbee golf player and a Washington Redskins fan. A hard worker, Kevin was a kind, loving and charitable person who would help anyone in need. He was very community minded and participated in many events.
Surviving, besides his parents, are a sister, Kathleen C. Ostrowski and her husband, Joseph F., Loyalville; brothers, John T. and his wife, Tina, Bakersfield, Calif.; and James F. and his wife, Janine, Nanticoke; several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, I.C.U, the Henry Cancer Center and Celtic Hospice for the compassionate care that was provided for Kevin.
The funeral for Kevin will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning from Hugh P. Boyle & Son Funeral Home Inc., 416 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa's Church, corner of Pioneer Avenue and Davis Street, Shavertown, with the Rev. James J. Paisley as celebrant.
Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in Kevin's name may be made to your local volunteer organization.

Such a terrific friend! I will miss him forever and cherish all the happy memories. I was blessed to have known him. I cannot express how sorry I am for he void left to all who love him. I hope for peace for all his family and friends.
