Anna Ambrose, 97, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, at Stella Maris Nursing Home Hospice, Lutherville-Timonium, Md.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, Anna was the daughter of the late Frank and Fenia lwaniw.
She was a 1942 graduate of Coughlin High School and moved to Baltimore, Md., in 1943, upon her marriage to Raymond Ambrose. She was a faithful member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Her interests over the years included gardening, crocheting, cooking and traveling, but most of all she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Raymond Ambrose, originally of Wilkes-Barre Twp.; daughter, Annette Sims, Georgia; brothers, John lwaniw, Ukraine; Peter lwaniw, Pennsylvania; and Michael lwaniw, Maryland; sisters, Mary Gavel, Pennsylvania; and Helen Bowanko, Pennsylvania; grandsons, David Everett, Georgia; Gerard and Michael Kinlein, Maryland; nephew, John Bowanko, Pennsylvania.
Anna is survived by her two daughters, Elaine Ambrose-Ghoniem, Ga.; Mary Sweet and her husband, Raymond, Maryland; brother, Theodore and his wife, Elaine, Virginia; sister-in-law, Marie and her husband, Henry Marks, Pennsylvania. Known affectionately as "Nanny" to her grandchildren, she will be sadly missed by LeAnn Brand and her husband, Charles, Georgia; Michael Kinlein and his wife, Lisa, Georgia; Ronald Hallock and his wife, Valerie, Florida; Eric Hallock, Georgia; Derek Sweet, Justin Sweet and Brad Sweet, Maryland.
Anna is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 N. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
