Ruby Fortney Obituary

Ruby Fortney passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at The Meadows Manor, at the age of 103.

Ruby was born in Morgantown, W.Va., but lived the majority of her life in Falls. Ruby was the daughter of the late Anthony and Leatha Pratt.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald W. Fortney; and her two sons, Gerald Fortney Jr. and Daniel Fortney.

Ruby is survived by her son, Larry Fortney; her daughter-in-law, Ellyn; daughter-in-law, Barb Jones Fortney; granddaughter, Laurie Wilbur; grandsons, Shaun Fortney; Brian Fortney; Mark Fortney; Daryl Fortney; and granddaughter, Jodi Asadourian; her great-grandchildren, Zachary, Alyson, Celia, Lexy, Austin, Sark, Sasha; and her great-great-grandchild, Colton.

Ruby had a long and productive life. Ruby loved to cook and sew and spend time with her family. She would spend the summers in Pennsylvania and winters in Florida. Being with her grandkids always made Ruby smile. Her great-great-grandson, Colton, would always lift her spirits when they were together.

Ruby was one of the most creative and imaginative people you could ever meet. She could make something beautiful out of items most people would throw away. She saw beauty in everything.

Ruby left an impression on anyone she would meet and she will be missed by all.

There will be no services upon the request of Ruby.
