Though we have been sparated by many miles since youth, we could always ccount on John being present when we visited. Dinner and coffee together and time to fellowship. Family was important to John. We will miss you cousin.

John was a very unique individual and friendly to all. He was blessed with a loving extended family and he will be missed.

John was a dear friend of mine. I've known and worked with John for years in Parents Without Partners. Wednesday night cards was always a brighter event when John arrived. We enjoyed his humor, affable nature, and history lessons. He was kind in every way. I can't imagine his ever having an enemy. We used to laugh with him and lovingly giving him the title of "dishonest John" because of his tricky bidding in Pitch knowing full well that he knew what he was doing.
I'm sure that there will never be a finer friend in my lifetime. I will very much miss him but he will always be in my heart. My condolences to his family.

When I found myself in Topeka in 1978 John became my friend. He fixed/assembled a few things in my home since I am not a "do-it-yourselfer." One year when my parents were on vacation I had to put my dog to sleep. John came over, took me to the vet for the euthanasia, buried my dog and had a cup of coffee with me. John used to get up at the crack of dawn Sunday mornings and prepare coffee for the SASS class at First Baptist. I always knew he was there for me if I had a minor catastrophe like a disabled car. John was very well read and could talk about a number of interesting books. He was always laughing. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I share your grief in losing a good man and friend.
