Mindy Nacole Hill

Mindy Hill Obituary

Mindy Nacole "Earth Angel" Hill, 17, departed this earth for her heavenly home on September 24, 2007. Services are 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel at Lakewood Funeral Home on Clinton Blvd. Visitation is tonight from 5-8 p.m. and Friday after 10 a.m. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
She was born in Jackson on December 5, 1989 to parents Donna Winstead Hill and Robert Hill. She attended Clinton Public Schools through 11th grade and recently completed her G.E.D. She studied and loved culinary arts. Last year she competed in the Skills U.S.A. Culinary Arts competition placing 2nd and receiving a scholarship. She planned to enter Hinds Community College studying nursing.
Her family and friends will remember her smile, laughter, kindness and love of life. She had matured into a beautiful young woman with the birth of her son Payton in May of this year. She ended her text messages often with either "Country Gal" or "LuV my BoYs", a salute to her son Payton and her fiancee Patrick. All of us will treasure her short life with us, her love for Papaw Hill, who was the only one who could console her at the doctor's office when she was younger. Her mother/daughter day on Saturdays with her mom Donna will always bring fond memories of their fun together. Her Uncle Tim always enjoyed her summer visits to Texas and their "battles" over youth fashions. Mindy referred to her Papaw Winstead as "Papa Bird" and enjoyed all of his stories and jokes. She recently was quite the e-mailer to her Mamaw Joan. She looked forward each year for the family gatherings with the Hills either at reunions or the holidays. Mindy was a talented pianist and played gospel music when she could. We all will remember her in her favorite form as a country girl. All of these memories and many more will be more precious to each of us now.
Mindy was employed by Funtime Skateland Daycare in Clinton where she was able to watch over her son each day and care for other children. Mindy loved her a job. She was a member of Flag Chapel Baptist Church.
She is survived by infant son, Payton; fiance, Patrick Bradshaw of Flora; mother, Donna Hill of Clinton; father, Robert Hill of Pearl; brother, Jason Hill and wife, Angela of Pearl; grandparents, Paul Hill of Clinton, Horace and Joan Winstead of Little Rock, Arkansas; aunt, Jeanette Bradshaw and husband, Ray of Richland, aunt Dovie Nelson and husband, Joey of Madison; Uncle John Hill and wife, Sue of Meridian and Uncle Tim Winstead of Friendswood, Texas; and numerous cousins and a niece.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Brandi Hill and grandmothers, Mary Hill and Betty Winstead.
The family would like to thank all of our friends and associates for their support and prayers.
Memorials can be made to the Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital in Jackson.
The online guest book can be signed at www.lakewoodfuneralhomes.com.

Patrick,
I send all my love and prayers to you. My heart hurts, for I loved Mindy too. I often think of you and pray for you. You have to be strong now and hold it down for you and your son. I always tried to teach you and Mindy that your future is what you make of it. I have faith that you can and will make a successful life for you and your son. Remember, as long as you have Mindy in your heart, she is always there. If you need to talk, just email me. I’m here for you. God Bless, Ms. Wells

To the family of Mindy, Patrick, and Payton:

For the short time I knew Mindy and Payton she truly touched me. I cannot explain to you what it was about her but she was always on my mind. I think maybe due to the fact that i was also young when i had my first child i had a special place for her. I did not know anything about her life previous to being a mother and from what i gathered that is what she lived for. Patrick and Payton were her everything, her world. She and I had some good long talks about her life and goals and I always felt so pround of her. Anyone who knew her knew how wonderful a mother she was and how lucky that little boy was. If my thoughts of her are correct then she will pull payton through this and protect him from here on out as she had done since he was born. i will truly miss her she was just so pure to me and so excited about her journey through life.

May God give you peace and fill your heart with love and memories. I am so sorry for this irreplaceable loss. I did not know Mindy. I might have gotten to know her eventually because she worked at my daughter's day care and Payton is in my daughter's class. I keep praying for Payton to fully recover as well. I keep a memory of Mindy which is the last time I saw her. She was holding her son up in the air talking to him. God bless all her loved ones and all the ones that loved her.

Donna,
I just met Mindy a few months ago when she and Patrick came by to see my son. She and I got talking and I discovered that she was your daughter. I thought she was so sweet and that she was going to be a great mother. I'm so sorry that this has happened and I am praying for all of you constantly. Julie and I are sending all our strength and courage to help you through this time of grief and mourning. Our love is with you all.

Mindy was special to me because we shared the grandchild ranking. I was the first and she was the last. I remember picking her up from school one day and she didn't reconize the car so she acted like she didn't know me. When she finally realized it was me, she gave that beaming smile that I will always remember and got in the car. She said where is Papaw. I said he was grocery shopping and she laughed and said "I should have known." I remeber her giving that smiling sigh that reminds me so much of Donna as Mamaw told us how to live our lives right. I will miss her but her smile will be etched in my heart forever. I love you all and if you need me, just call.

My heart feels heavy for the loss of this beautiful young woman and mother at the start of her adulthood. I'll never forget the joy and excitement of her Uncle Tim and Grandmother Betty at the time of her birth! I know all of her family and friends adored her and were lucky to have her in their lives. Love conquers all.

Donna,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I can remember Mindy coming to the office when she was just a little bitty thing. I will always remember that head full of curls and she was a little live wire!! I know your heart is broken and will be for a long time, but put your trust in the Lord and he will see you through this. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Love Ya...

Mindy at age 10 was already beautiful and mature.

The last time I spoke with Mindy, she was having lunch with her mom and her "Papaw" Hill. I was touched by the sweetness in her voice and her expression of love. My heart is with my family, and my prayers are with baby Payton.
