Rorie DeVos Obituary

Rorie Sue (Kelly) DeVos 1957 - 2006 Resident of Bay Point Rorie Sue DeVos passed away rather suddenly of liver cancer in Kaiser Hospital Walnut Creek, CA, on July 24, 2006 at the age of 48. She was born at Kaiser Hospital Walnut Creek on Oct. 27 1957. She was preceded in death by her father Donald Kelly exactly 14 years to the day; and her son, William James DeVos, June 28 1986. She was survived by her devoted and loving husband of 25 years, Jim DeVos of Bay Point, CA; and two daughters, Amber Dawn DeVos & Tracy Lynn DeVos also of Bay Point; her mother, Reva Mae Kelly of Byron; her sisters, Renee Carpenter of Concord and Roxanne Heine, (husband, Bob) of Antioch; and brother, Richard Kelly (wife, Amy) of Vancouver, Washington. Also several nieces and nephews including Stacy Atwater, Bobbie Jo Coleman, Autumn Rae Barney, and William Anderson-Heine, Victoria Kelly and Ryan Kelly, Charles Willeman. She was also the adopted grandma of Page, Faith and Josh Cole. She graduated from Mt. Diablo High in 1976. She worked for Cordis Dow in 1976, then started working for Taylor-Made which later became Ikon, for the past 25 years. Rorie had lots of friends everywhere. She was always willing to help family and friends. She had a steadfast faith in Christ and left that legacy behind. I can picture her saying these words: I'm Free Don't grieve for me, now I'm free. I'm following the path God's laid for me. I took his hand when I heard him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day. To laugh, to love, to work, or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found my peace at the close of day. And if parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. Our friendships shared, a laugh, a kiss, yes these things I'll dearly miss. But don't be burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I've savored much, good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don't lengthen it more with undo grief. Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now, he's set me free. Written by Douglas Hofman Services will be held Saturday, July 29th at Calvary Temple Church, 4725 Evora Road, Concord, CA. Viewing at 9 a.m. and services at 10 a.m., then Graveside at Memory Gardens in Concord.

Rorie was an awesome friend to my mom. My mom worked with her at Taylor Made. My mom was a single mom and going through some rough times. Just when my mom needed a friend she was there. I know God put Rorie in my mom's life at just the right time. One day I'll have the chance to thank her. For the family, I hope in these times of mourning and sarrow, may the Lord lift you up and give you comfort. Call on Jesus. He'll be there for you.

It is strange how God puts people in our lives. I met Rorie years ago through Girl Scouting. I would run into her periodically and she would always have a smile and a friendly "Hi, how are you?" I know that her time here on Earth was over and she was needed in God's presence but she will be greatly missed.

I first met Rorie in 1988 when I came to work at Taylor Made. My last three years with IKON (Taylor Made)were spent with Rorie. We made a "dynamite" team. I have stayed in touch with her since I left IKON and I will miss her so much. She was such a great mom. My prayers are for her family to be comforted in this sad and lonely time.

I worked with Rorie for a short time and in that time she was funny, always with a kind word no matter what was going on around her. She loved her children as we talked each day about them. I will miss seeing her first thing in the mornings,as I came to work each day, for you see she sat right next to me and she was the first person I said good morning to and now I miss that.My prayers go out to you and your family. Thank you Rorie for being a part of my daily life.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
