Hello,
We wanted to let you and your family and friends know that we have made a small donation to the Gary Sinise Foundation in the name of John David Aragon US Army Sergeant.
We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals across the American youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

I served with John in Basic Training. He always had a smile and I remember thinking "this sucks, why is this dude smiling?" We parted ways after graduation and I headed to Alaska. John I have worn your bracelet every day for the past five years so I never forget the sacrifices made by soldiers like you. Remembering you on Veterans Day. Rest easy bro, see you on the high ground.

It has truly been my honor to sign John's guest book these past few years. Unfortunately, due to complications from my Multiple Sclerosis, this may be the last message I'm able to write. Please forgive me and know that John will always be remembered in my home.

I remember you today, on Veterans day. I remember how I use to give you crap for having joined the Army cause I was in the Marines and talking to you back and forth about everything, even girls. I remember going to school and finding out there that we were cousins. I love you cousin. I wish you could still be around, but you aren't forgotten. I'll see you someday. Love you.

Words cannot describe the impact you have made in the lives you have touched. From the chaos and mischief we created when we were children to the inspiring humor filled treasured messages you sent to me while you were gone. I constantly look back to these messages whenever I want to smile because they reminded me of your prankishness as well as your warmth. Above anything else they remind me of your honor. There is one message in particular- I told you that we were all praying for your safe return; you then thanked me, but told me that you would like for me to pray for the men you were looking after. With those words you transcended from that boy I grew up with to a man few would ever become. It was not due to stoniness or hyper machismo that you became this man. Rather it was because you were not afraid to show that you were full of love and that you loved your men like brothers. You have been the apple in all of our eyes and even though you did not hear it enough from me, please know now that I love you with every bit of me. Not a day goes by where the world does not ache from the loss of a soldier, brother, son, cousin, partner in crime, and friend. As much as it hurts that you are not here with us now, we are all happy that the community, town, and world was touched by you- for now it knows how beautiful one of its sons can be. Enjoy the glory of heaven my friend; remember that we will see you again in another life. I love you Johnny, and not a day goes by where I am not thinking about you and how much you made me smile. Not a moment goes by where a flicker of light, a certain song, or a seemingly accidental mischievousness does not inspire me to believe that you still touch this world to make it both beautiful and chaotic once more.

Johnny was person who always, had my back. He loved his Raiders, through the good times and bad. He love to play practical jokes, make people laugh. I can't believe your gone. We'll never be the same with out you here, cousin. I know through the bravey you displayed, from this point on what ever comes my way I will draw strength from your memory. Whenever I think of you I will always remember your leadership, the love for you family, and you were always a true friend. I will always have the honor to tell people that not only did I know you, but that we were also cousins.
May you always find peace.

Dear John, Denise, Christina, Brianna and Isabella,
I want to express my feelings in the loss of your son, brother and uncle. I just want you all to know how very proud I am of everything that Johnny accomplished in the Army. He was such a brave young man to sacrifice his life for our country. I will never forget all the memories our families shared together, especially on my birthday last year when you, Denise, and John went to pick him up from the airport and came directly to my house, how proud and happy I was to see what a confident young man Johnny had become. He will always be in my heart. There will be happy tears and sad tears, but knowing we will be together again as each one of us goes to our Heavenly home, brings joy to my heart.
Rest in peace, dear nephew, Johnny, my hero.
With all my love, Auntie Hope

Dear John, Denise, Christina and Brianna, Isabella and Amy Sue,
There are no words that can express our feelings for the loss of our nephew and cousin Johnny. We saw him become a handsome, confident young man and solider who was so proud to serve his country. We will always cherish our memories of birthdays and holidays that our families shared together throughout his lifetime. His family was everything to him. And the special bond he shared with you, Denise, was felt by everyone. He would be so proud to see how brave you've been. The outpouring of support from the community and family and friends shows how much Johnny's loss is felt and he is a hero to all.
Johnny you will always be in our hearts and prayers and will be missed so much. Our family is so proud of you.

Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

Goodbye my special boy, my only grandson, I loved you the first time I laid eyes on you at the hospital. I would bring you home on Friday nights, so your mother could get some rest. I loved feeding you, looking into that beautiful face that I loved so much.
You and your sisters were always at my house week days and week ends. When you were four years old you had a yellow plastic hammer, you wanted to bop, bop everything in the house. I told you not to bop, bop the television or the refrigerator. The floor, walls, chairs, outside were okay. You had a ball!
At the age of five you would play a little guitar and sing La Bamba in the patio. You were so proud of yourself. We have so many wonderful memories of you. If I were to tell all the cute, silly, funny, dear to my heart stories, I would have to write a book.
When you came home on leave from the Army, I loved cooking all of your favorite foods. I would bake you a cherry pie, one for your dinner at my house and one for your house.
Johnny my love, we were so proud of you, you were so loved for 22 years by your family; Grandma Celia and Papa Dave, your Mother Denise and Father John, Christina, Brianna and Isabella, your Auntie Lydia and Uncle Glenn, Auntie Doreen and Tori, The Palomino's, Auntie Hope, Elias, Mario, Schmille, Rochelle, Martha, Suzanne, The Messer's, MaryAnn, Bobby, Michael, Alyssa, The Yeager's, Ofelia, James, Jill, Todd, The Guiterrez's, Aunt Olga and Steve and the Luna family’s. We were proud to have had you for all the Christmas’s Thanksgivings, all your birthdays, school plays, graduations from Harbour Lights preschool and High school. The memories are so precious. Thank you my Grandson.
May you rest in peace my Grandson, I know you’re in heaven, watching over us and when it’s time for us to go, I’ll see you then Johnny, my Hero.
Love you always my Johnny

The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Dear Denise, John, Christina, Bri, Mama Celia, Gordo, Lydia, Tori & Doreen,
I understand why Johnny responded to his call to duty although it resulted in a personal loss in my life. I was present when Johnny & my son Michael were born and it was a most happy time for the Dupree, Aragon & Luna Families. I'm particularly impressed with the testimonies & comments of the people who served with him & knew that he was that quality of man. God has worked again in all of our lives in taking you beyond us. I love you all.

I am very proud of Sgt John Aragon and his service in Irag. He was a great soldier and patroit; he represented the Luna & Aragon families who have served proudly for their country overseas in North Africa, Sicily, Japan, Korea and Panama. He will be remembered as a leader of men, a wonderful son and brother, and an example of someone who cared for others. The 101st Airborne has a long history of brave men and Sgt John Aragon will join his comrades as part of that lore. John will be missed, but not forgotten!

Nisie, John, Tina and Bri -
It still hasn't really hit me yet. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss of an amazing son and brother. I was looking at the pictures in the guest book, and #9 is how I'll always remember Johnny. He was basically a little brother to me for so long - but man he grew up quick. I have been so blessed to be a part of your incredible family; a family full of love and compassion for one another. There are few families that care for each other like the Aragons and Lunas.
I know, just by hearing stories from Mama Celia, that he wanted to be out there fighting and protecting all of us here. He was meant to be a soldier, and turned out to be one of the best. I am forever grateful for his services and willingness to put himself before others to protect our nation. Now Johnny is protecting and watching over us in a different way.
I love you and miss you Johnny. You're a hero.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!
I would also like to tell you about a website, http://groups.msn.com/SSPSoldierPor

To the family and parents of John I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I assisted with performing the Military Honors for Sgt John A. Aragon in Iraq.
We (Army & Airforce) Lined up behind a C-130 & Saluted Sgt Aragon with the United States flag draped over his casket. After he was secured onto the C-130. We then entered the aircraft for a short prayer. An unknown Army Captain read from Psalms 23.
I've performed a number of Honor Guard funerals back home, California. However, this one was very touching. My prayers are with you "Sgt. Aragon" and your family...

I am in the USAF and I am currently in Iraq. It is one of my priviledged duties to help ensure that our military members make it home to their loved ones. I had the Honor of being one of the individuals that returned Sgt Aragon to his home. I live in Concord, so it hit a little closer to home knowing he was from my local area. Please accept my deepest condolences.

I was in John's class growing up at Belshaw Elementary and then at Park middle school. John had a good head on his shoulders and could always make people laugh. He truly was a leader, I remember looking up to him since he always the first to finish in fourth grade running the "oregon trail", or being the best at kick-ball and basketball. I also never met a bigger raiders fan. John's great sense of humor and unique character made him unforgettable. Thank you for raising such an upstanding and honorable person who put himself before others and gave his life for his country. I will not forget John Aragon. You're family is my families prayers.
