Leroy L. Vukad

Leroy L. Vukad Leroy Vukad was born in Hibbing, MN in 1935. He spent the first few years of his life in Chisholm, MN before moving to West Pittsburg, CA in the late 1940s. Leroy was a graduate of Mt. Diablo High School's class of 1953. He also earned an Associate Degree from Diablo Valley College. Leroy's career as a traffic engineer for Contra Costa County spanned more than 30 years. A loving father of two and devoted husband of 39 years to Bonnie, Leroy most enjoyed traveling to Europe and learning about the history of different countries. He was a strong family man who thrived at his home in Clayton, where he lived for 33 years. There he and Bonnie raised two children, Richard and Leslie. An honest, hard-working man with integrity, Leroy took great pride in watching his family grow. In the past nine months, Leroy's Yorkshire Terrier, Bella, provided him with happiness and love as he spent more time at home because of his illness. Extremely courageous, Leroy had a strong will to live. After a lengthy illness, Leroy died at home with his family present. He was looking forward to the birth of his granddaughter coming this October. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association. Leroy is survived by his wife, Bonnie; sister, Emilie Keesling; son, Richard; and daughter, Leslie Johnson. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 20, at 12pm at Ouimet Bros.
