I wanted to express to Oscar's family my sadness at his passing. I went to school with Oscar from Junior High School through college at Berkeley. I always enjoyed running into him at Cal. He was a very sensitive and fine young man.

I just heard of Oscar's death and feel very sad. Although I hadn't seen him since graduating fron Mt. Diablo High School I remember how sweet and loving he was. He was the class clown in 7th grade and made everyone laugh..

When I had heard from my parents that Oscar had passed away I felt a deep sadness. My parents were up to see my sons who have just entered high school wrestle in a local tournament. Knowing that I had looked up to Oscar while I was in school they felt compelled to mention his death.

I do not know if I would have finished my High school wrestling career if it had not of been for Oscar, Coach Hagerstrand, and few others supporting me during my freshman and sophomore years. I was not much of an athlete and I had every reason in the world to give up.

I can still hear Oscar telling me how proud I must feel finishing my freshman year when no one expected me to make it and so many others had quit. During my sophomore year I mange to wrestle at the varsity level for some mathes and I was being pummeled most of the time. Again it was Oscar telling me that no one expected me to ever wrestle at the varsity level and to stick with it because I would be fine.

I did stick with wrestling and in the end I learned alot about myself and people who you could trust and look up to. Now I watch my sons who at their young ages have already surpassed their father's ability. Thanks Oscar, you probably never knew how much you helped me reach my goals.

Maria and family

I was very sadden to hear of Oscar's passing. We met by chance in the early '70's and it was such a nice surprise to find out he was my cousin. The times that we visited with each other have now become dear memories. May your family find comfort in all the memories and hopefully we'll see all of you at one of the family reunion's in Pittsburg.
