Brandon Dayley Obituary

Brandon Scott Dayley Resident of Pittsburg Brandon Scott Dayley, 31, passed away Friday, March 28, 2008 in Pittsburg, California. Brandon was a student at Los Medanos and Diablo Valley Colleges, getting ready to transfer to CSU Hayward to pursue a bachelor's degree in Sociology. Born June 23, 1976 in Twin Falls, Idaho, Brandon grew up in Burley, Idaho and moved to California in 1984 with his family. As a youth, Brandon played various sports but found a special love for football in high school. He played for four years with the Alhambra Bulldogs and graduated from Alhambra High School in 1994. He worked for two years before moving to Chico to attend school. Brandon received a mission call from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1998, but incurred a serious car accident which prevented his going. After a long and intense recovery, Brandon received another mission call and served a two-year church mission to Dallas, Texas from 2000 to 2002. When he returned from his mission, he continued to pursue his education. He was employed by Bay Area Scientific. He was a member of the Pittsburg, California Ward. Brandon was well-known as a gregarious man who loved meeting and talking with new people, acquiring knowledge, eating Mexican food, traveling, and spending time with his growing family. He was a beloved son, brother, and uncle. He had a special love and compassion for the homeless, the down-trodden, and people with disabilities. His dream was to work with the victims of head injury, helping them to enjoy a higher quality of life. He is survived by his parents, Larry Dayley of Martinez, California; Marci Dayley of Columbia, Maryland; a sister, Chantel Calder of Columbia Maryland; a brother, Clayton Dayley of Martinez, California; his maternal grandmother, Ann Anderson of White Rocks, Utah; three nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Dear Dayley family:

I was so sorry to hear of your recent untimely loss.

Brandon was a kind and gentle soul. I will miss seeing him at Los Medanos College. I work in Student Services and he would stop by and chat frequently. He always wore a smile.

May you find comfort in knowing that the thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow and share your loss.

It is with great sorrow to hear about Brandon. I was his LMC counselor and worked very closely with him for about 5 years. He was working so hard to get to transfer, he had only one class to complete. I enjoyed his humor and his enthusiasum, I will miss him. Brandon, you and your family are in my prayers at this time. I feel that now you are at peace and in God's loving arms. I think about your friendship and will miss you.

To the Dayley Family-
I am really sorry to hear of your loss. My husband John said that he is just dumbfounded to hear about Brandon's recent death. I had only talked to Brandon once on the phone after his accident when he called to talk to his "brother" as he referred to John. I was confused as I had never met him in person, but knew of him. I know that John is the only son of his family and didn't know why someone was asking for his brother. John said that Brandon liked to be funny and was just a close friend of his. I wish that I would have gotten to know him. We want to send our condolences as we have recently moved to Utah. We wish your family well as we know this is a tough time in your lives and in many others. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
