David N. Holcomb longtime resident of Lisle The funeral service for David N. Holcomb, 71, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, 525 63rd Street, in Downers Grove. Interment will be held privately in Lisle Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13 at the church. Born on Sept. 12, 1936, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Hollis and Kathryn Holcomb, he died suddenly, Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008. He received a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of Illinois. For 25 years he worked at Kraft Food and for the last 13 years had owned and operated the Bookstores of America on Main St. in Lisle. He was a loving husband and father and his faith was an important part of his life. He was an active member of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Downers Grove. David is survived by his wife of 42 years, Doris; four children, Timothy Holcomb of Columbus, Ohio, Mark (Jeanne) Holcomb of Fort Atkinson, Wis., Samuel (Kimberly) Holcomb of Kailua, Hawaii, and Kathryn (Christian) Perillo of North Lauderdale, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
