Elsie Ellis Obituary
She was born in 1918 in Isle of Wight County to the late Charles C. and Lauera H. Scott. Mrs. Ellis moved to the peninsula where she met and married her beloved late husband of 45 years, Robert L. Ellis Sr. Also, preceded in death was a son, her son-in-law, and a grandson.
Mrs. Ellis was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was active in her Sunday school class as well as a member of the Homemakers Club.
Survived to cherish her memories are three sons, Charles S. and (Kim) Ellis of Indiana, Douglas C. and (Vicky) Ellis of Chester, Va., Roy T. Ellis of Newport News; a daughter, Olivia E. Smith of Newport News; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Ellis of Florida; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
A very special thanks to her caregivers, Barbara, Margaret, and Mary for their love and care and wonderful Hospice Care.
The family received friends on Thursday. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at Peninsula Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Randy McCollum and the Rev. John Roberts. A burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund at 12716 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23606.
