William Rogers Obituary
A native of Macclesfield, N.C., a member of St. James Church of Christ in Newport News.
Preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Peggy Rodgers; his wife, Jaumeadie Moss-Rogers; one sister, Minnie Thompson; two brothers, Johnnie Rodgers, Arthur Lee Rodgers and four great-grandchildren.
He leaves to cherish his memories daughters, Jernette Rogers of Bronx, N.Y., Julia (William) Harvey and Conora Rogers, both of Newport News; son, William T. Rogers Jr. of Petersburg; grandchildren, Charles, Cheryl and Santel Rogers of New York, Robert, Jerel, David, and Dante Rogers, Erik Harvey, Katina Key (Ricky), all of Newport News, Jonald Rogers (Dineen) of Chesapeake; 20 great-grandchildren; a special niece, Delores Rolle of New York; sister-in-law, Ida Thomas of Hampton; one brother-in-law, A.C. Brown of Newport News; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Friendship Baptist Church by Elder Michael Banks. Family and friends will assemble by 12:15 p.m., at 1236 37th Street, to precede to the church. Interment will be at Hampton National Cemetery (Hampton University). Viewing will be from noon to 6 p.m. at Gilmore's Funeral Home, 3314 Roanoke Ave., Newport News. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

To the Rogers Family,
I know that all of you will continue to have such fond memories of "Tami" and so will I. I can remember how he loved me so much from a little girl and would make me laugh. He was so funny and even when I called and sung to him on his 90th birthday, he still would have you laughing. Conora, thanks for giving him that telephone so that I could chat with him. Did you finally give him the cookie? Love you all and the friendships that were developed from the OLD NEWSOME PARK and the friendhsips that continues on today. Remember, GOD will help you all the time regardless of what you may experience.
