Leona Norris Duncan

DUNN, N.C. - Mrs. Leona Norris Duncan, 80, of Dunn, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at Betsy Johnson Hospital.
Mrs. Duncan was born in Harnett County on Jan. 7, 1928, the daughter of the late Loly and Mertie Smith Norris and was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Ray Norris, and a sister, Gladys Barbour.
Mrs. Duncan and her husband of 65 years lived in Virginia until 1989, where she was employed with the Naval Weapons Station at Yorktown, Va., as a supervisor in data processing. She retired with 30 years of service. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Willie Lee Duncan of the home; a daughter, Patricia Duncan of Toano, Va.; four sisters, Ruby Brewer of Dunn, N.C., Margie Sheilds of Wilmington, N.C., Georgie Williford of Dunn, N.C., and Peggy Baird of Morehead City, N.C.; one brother, Robert 'Bobby' F. Norris of Gloucester, Va.; three grandchildren, Crystal Denyes of Toano, Va., Jutana Guidry of Louisiana and Natasha Buel of Toano, Va.; nine great-grandchildren; and a stepmother, Lela Norris of Coats, N.C.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Spring Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Bolick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
