Robert Howard Calloway

POQUOSON - Robert Howard Calloway, 79, of Knoxville, Tenn., passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospice in Knoxville surrounded by family and friends. For the past two years, he lived in Poquoson, Va.
He was born Nov. 23, 1928, in Twila, Ky., to Hugh and Sudie Calloway. He was the 9th child born of 11 children. He graduated from Pine Mountain Settlement School in 1947. He then served in the United States Army, stationed in Hawaii, until 1950. He moved back to Knoxville and married his high school sweetheart, Wanda Lee Collier, on May 19, 1950. He worked 40 years in the commercial sign business and was an avid fisherman. He was a much loved father, grandfather and friend and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters and his wife, Wanda.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Robby Calloway and Michelle, Danny Calloway and Anita, and daughter and son-in-law, Tami Charles and Bobby; grandchildren, Laura Chewning and Kurt, Britt Calloway, Alex and Blake Kattan, Bo Calloway and Kerri, Blair Calloway, Darby and Kendall Charles; sisters, Blanche Atkins, Lucille Smith, Betty Helton; and sister-in-law, Betty Nichols; nephews, nieces and all others touched by his gift of love.
