Mary was a remarkable and thoughtful lady who, whether she realized it or not, was an inpiration to many. I met her four years ago when she came into my office to join the gym. At that time she was 91 years old and still sharp as a tack. During the four years Mary was a member of the Wellness Center, I would listen to the excuses people would make as to why they could not exercise, then I would tell them about Mary. At that point, the excuses would stop.
During one of our conversations, I mentioned my sister lives in the historic North End section of N.N. Mary said she had lived there as well and began to share stories of her days there. The next time she saw me, she had brought some articles she had been saving over the years about the old neighborhood to give to my sister whom she had never even met.
I feel blessed and privledged to have had the opportunity to have known such a special lady. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Dear Sue and Otis:
We are so saddened at your mother's passing and are so sorry we had to miss the service--we are currently out of town. Mary was a great inspiration with her boundless energy and obvious joy in life and in the Lord. It was a privilege to know her. You will be in our prayers.
